Proposal 1.0 : 20 weekend surfing

As I sit here feeling sorry for m self because I have just indulged in way too many chips and a particularly mega mushroom and haloumi burger, my plan of having a quiet weekend creating is suddenly interrupted by a sudden impulse to go surfing and reach for the beach every weekend till the end of the year... that is approximately 20 weekends of sand under foot and the water crashing into my board as I attempt to pass the whitewash.

I must admit I seem to have these sudden impulses every weekend, as soon as I have a moment to imagine something other than the usual drawing of buildings. Admittedly we are still in “Active August” however I feel the proposal of 20 weekends of surfing is contributing to “Active August” more than the 3km run and push-up session every day of the working week.

It’s the middle of the year already, nearly time for a Christmas in July holiday and definitely time to shut the windows in the Northern states of Australia (a first for the year yet).
I was pondering over my recent Nepalese adventurers and hoping that the stars and moons aligned for another new adventure to another life altering place, where what you expect is always way understated. If not, maybe the surf on the weekend will be enough of a chill to relight the unmentionable bad humour and creative spirit.

Today is exactly 365 days from when i need to tick off too many 30 before 30 objectives. Today was also a day of cake, reading, ideas building and dreaming of nepalese peaks. I know this is not really typical of my usual post, but I thought it was a good telling tale of the moment.

So moving on is always hard, understanding and making the decision to accept the decision is sometimes the most complex part of the process.

Why is it that we need a feeling of security to understand that we will find a sense of place again, wherever we look, it will be in the smallest of details.. Even if at first we are looking superficially at the progressive world, it will be found and more comforting than a warm blanket or the sun on our backs. So this weekend is dedicated to accepting that sometimes you mix up the girls toilets from the boys, many drinks surrounded by beautiful souls, cities that are filled with drawings on the walls and hopefully some good old mckellar trifle.

After my second coffee of the day and it only being 10am, nearly being run over by a mega oversized 4WD in the city and my 8 – 6 brain activity being completely enthralling to say the least, I can’t wait for that moment of opportunity to go out and make at least one of those brain fogging conceptual ideas into reality. There seem to be way too many piling up….. It’s like working in a pit of balls.

Winter porridge - Geelong Style

I’m so excited about the next few days of holidays, this time of year always reminds me of cool mornings, gum trees, smoke from a fire and lots of cups of tea.

Food seems to be on the addenda at the moment in my mind and my favourite porridge recipe for the cold mornings comes from a house with too many different types of wall papers, on the waterfront in Geelong along with a few good friends on a balcony.

Geelong Style Porridge
1 cup of oats

1 pinch of salt

½ apple sliced up thinly

¼ cup sultanas/goji berries

1 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 cups of soy milk

½ cup of water (if required)

¼ cup of chopped walnuts/almonds + Honey to serve

Place all ingredients in a pot, bring to the boil, simmer till creamy (add more water/soy if not creamy enough), pour into beautiful big bowls, add honey + almonds and extra soy to serve so it looks like the porridge is an oaty island.

Serve with soup spoon and sometimes a whole lot of brown sugar.

After 15 days of walking in the mountains in Nepal, seeing so many beautiful people, trees and too many nepelese flats I have decided to undertake the list of 30 things to do before I turn thirty. (that sounds so old!)

1. Take Yoga once a week
2. Learn to make sushi well and serve to all my hot friends at least every few months.
3. Run a half marathon, well!
4. Learn to surf down more than just white wash, it's time to step it up I think, move on from the foamie.
5. Camp at morton island when it's not raining.
6. Start rock climbing
7. Go camping more than three times a year
8. Lear to good a great cake for friends birthdays (not just chocolate)
9. Visit an ashram
10.Stop eating chocolate every day
11. Sit on a floatie for a whole day
12. Volunteer once a year at least
13. Draw great maps
14. Mega postups, in multiple cities/towns
15. Enter Archi comps
16. Registration
17. Send a valentines day letter and picture.
18. Make a Zine
19. Call my interstate family more oftern
20. Go vegan / raw, get alice to teach me how!
21. Mount Everest Base camp. - Whooh , complete!
22. Read the news paper every day/weekend
23. Sun spots are looming
24. Draw every day/ create every day
25. Write a manifesto
26. Apply for a study tour
27 Research medical conditions instead of taking to wikipedia ever other day.
28. Fly a kite and not just crash the kite.
29. Learn to make great chai
30. Speak up more, when the ideas arise.

As you can see some are easier than others and I might need some help, so all welcome to join in the listage.
